A Modern Retelling of "Adam and Eve"
They had it made.
When Ethan and Claire married, both came from wealthy families, and their wedding gift wasn't toasters or wine glasses — it was money. More money than they could spend in three lifetimes. No debts, no worries, just luxury stacked on luxury. Their parents gave only one warning:
"Stay away from gambling. Nothing good ever comes from taking chances."
For a while, life was golden. Ethan built his dream garage, Claire filled the house with designer furniture, and travel was as casual as hopping on a bus. Then one April night in 2013, Claire went to a concert with her friends. After the encore, the ladies suggested swinging by the casino.
At first, she shook her head. "No, I promised Ethan. We don't gamble."
But the neon lights, laughter, and rush looked fun. What's the harm in a little spin?
She played. She won. She played again. By the time she got home, she was glowing. "It's harmless," she said. "You should try it with me."
Ethan resisted — for about a week. Then he joined her. Roulette became poker, poker became day trading, day trading became chasing every "can't-miss" stock tip. The thrill of risk was addictive.
And then the losses came. Quiet at first, then fast, then brutal. By the end, they had sold the house, sold the cars, sold the future they thought was guaranteed.
For twelve years, they lived humbler lives — in a modest rental with their two young boys. No vacations, no luxuries, just bills, work, and regret.
One evening, Ethan was sorting through old paperwork in a dusty box from their "good ole days." Buried between bank statements and old receipts, he found a yellowing printout.
"Purchase Confirmation: 200 BTC @ $25 each. April 2013. Total: $5,000."
He stared. Blinked. Did the math three times.
His shout rattled the whole house: 'Claire! Come here—NOW!
Ethan's look was like a 3-year-old getting his first tricycle.
Claire asked, "What did you find?"
He handed her the receipt.
She looked at it, "What is that worth?"
Ethan whispered it in her ear.
Then the memories came flooding back, the 100s of millions of dollars they squandered, losing the big house with the indoor pool, all the fancy cars, and her precious furniture. Both parents refused to help them; they are on their own. She was determined that they would never repeat this!
She looked at Ethan, a sort of happy but weird look on her face, "So… Got the number of a great financial planner who doesn't gamble?"

Synopsis:
In the story of Adam and Eve, paradise was theirs until temptation led them astray. One choice — just one — cost them everything and reshaped their future. This modern retelling shows how chasing "forbidden fruit" can destroy even the most secure life. But it also reminds us: even in the fallout, grace and redemption can appear where we least expect them.
